Oswald Mederle
Oswald Mederle was born in Bolzano in 1956, has lived in Bressanone for some time, worked as a vocational school teacher and is now retired.
He has been dealing with history for years and in particular with the First World War.
As an autodidact, he is himself a collector of objects from this time and has visited countless well-known, but also lesser-known theaters of war. In recent years he has worked intensively with the front area between Adige and Lake Garda, the area around Pejo, the Valle del Fersina, but also with the 2. defensive line of Tyrol. Recently, he has been researching specifically about the Bressanone space and its function as 2. defensive line, further on the Standschützen battalions of the surrounding area, their use on the Tyrolean mountains and the returnees.
He is a board member and vice-president of the Tyrolean Historical Ice Cream Section Bolzano and a board member of the Museo della Guerra di Rovereto. As a co-author of various publications on the First World War, he collaborates with experts at home and abroad.
